Conference Votes for Tibetan Translator's Guild

Boulder, Colorado was the host to over 100 Tibetan translators, all gathered to discuss the demand for uniformity and solidarity among specialists of this ancient language. At the conclusion of the conference, it was decided that a Tibetan translator’s guild would be created. With the inception of this specialized guild, Tibetan translators hope it will bring a sense of livelihood, by potentially offering health insurance and a range of other benefits to its members. As the conference has demonstrated, there are several Tibetan translators throughout the world. With some translators living in mainstream Western culture, and others more closely immersed in traditional Tibetan culture, the creation of a unified guild brings hopes of worldwide collaboration.
