US Develops Software that could Track Global Press

The Department of Home Security is allocating $2.4 million over the next 3 years to support research using computer science to analyze human language in texts. The goal is to create software that will summarize and analyze opinions expressed in articles about the US. Although the software would have beneficial effects for the War on Terror, it could also pose a threat to freedom of the press.
