The hostility is coming from the French teacher’s trade unions, who claims that there just simply aren’t enough resources to pursue this bilingual target. As of this year, there are currently 11,200 fewer teachers as there were in 2007, not to mention an additional 13,900 teaching positions to be axed in 2009.
