Multilingual Dubbing & Lip Syncing

Founded in 1978 and based in Houston, Texas, Omni provides professional dubbing and lip sync services for organizations translating multimedia content for audiences in the U.S. and international markets.

Our in-house production studio supports the dubbing process from localized content through to the finished voice track, with one project team coordinating the work.

Lip-sync dubbing matches the timing of translated dialogue to the visible mouth movements of on-screen speakers. Our team handles lip-sync projects with close attention to timing and the finished recording.

Whether dubbing is one part of a wider localization project or the main production requirement, we take a consultative approach and help you determine a workflow suited to your content.

What Content Do We Handle

Dubbing can be used across a wide range of projects, with some common examples including:

  • eLearning courses
  • Training content
  • Corporate videos and presentations
  • Product demonstrations
  • Instructional videos
  • Marketing and promotional videos
  • Technical content
  • Interviews and talking-head videos
  • Webinars and recorded presentations
  • Social media video

For content where the speaker is visible, lip-sync dubbing can also be used to match the translated dialogue more closely to the speaker’s mouth movements.

How Dubbing and Lip Sync Work

Dubbing essentially replaces the original spoken audio in a video with dialogue in another language. The script is translated and adapted for the recording, then the new dialogue is recorded and added to the video.

With lip-sync dubbing, the dialogue is adapted so that the recording matches the timing and visible mouth movements of the on-screen speaker. This creates a more natural fit between the new audio and the original performance.

FAQs

What is dubbing?

Dubbing is the process of adding to or replacing the recorded audio of a film or video during post-production. In multilingual content, it typically means replacing the original dialogue with translated dialogue that is synchronized with the visuals.

What is lip sync?

Lip sync dubbing is the process of matching recorded dialogue to the lip movements of a person or character on screen.

In multilingual dubbing, the translated dialogue is adapted and timed so that the new audio corresponds as closely as possible with the visible mouth movements in the original video.

With some projects, this can involve adjusting the phrasing of the translated scripts to match the pacing of the original video’s lip movements.
